Time Tracking: Your First Step to Content De-addiction
Tracking your time to find the blind spots
How often do you wish for a few more hours in the day?
“If only I had a few more hours, I would do it all.”
Of Course, you wouldn’t. You would just watch, listen, read, comment, swipe up, down, left and right.
And that’s normal and horrible. Because a day lost is lost forever. Meanwhile, we keep pushing our goals from one day to the next, waiting for some hours to appear. We can all do better with our time. We owe this much to ourselves.
I don’t have a magic pill or a Chrome extension to grant you these extra hours. But if you really want to start, start by building awareness of how you spend your time.
Here’s how:
For 7 days, jot down what you’re doing every 60 minutes from waking up to going to bed.
In the settings of your android phone, open ‘Digital Wellbeing’ to check screen time. On an ios phone, open Screen Time.
Note the number of times you picked up the phone.
Note the hours you spend after work in front of a screen.
At the end, group your activities into categories (like Work, Eating, Relaxing, Learning, etc.).
Review your log and spot where your time is slipping away.
Decide where you can cut back and where you want to invest more time.
Why does this work?
You’ll see your blind spots- little activities that add up.
No more “I don’t have time” excuses-you’ll know exactly where your hours go!
You’ll find hidden pockets of time to use for what matters most.
